Ebook: Occupational Safety
Safety in the process industries can
be into three broad categories: Inherent, Process and Occupational.
is a good deal of overlap
between the three categoies;
for example putting
a bund wall around a tank could be considered to be either
a process safety or an inherent safety initiative.
Occupational Safety — sometimes referred to as personal or
hard hat safety — is concerned with events that result from unsafe acts
or conditions, and that generally affect only one person, or a small
group. It covers topics such as vessel entry, vehicle movement, protective
clothing and tripping hazards.
The topic of Occupational Safety is large and
covers many different activities and disciplines including health and
human factors — topics that are discussed in other ebooks in this series.
In order to give a feel as to the topics covered the contents of
a typical Safety Manual are shown here .
