Definitions

Term
Definition
Boiling Point The temperature at which a material boils at normal atmospheric pressure.
Melting Point For pure substances, the temperature at which transition from solid to liquid form is complete. For mixtures, such as waxes, the temperature at which the transition begins.
Pour Point The lowest temperature at which a liquid will flow or pour.
Vapor Pressure The pressure of saturated vapor above liquids or solids at the stated pressure.
Viscosity Internal resistance to flow exhibited by a fluid.
